ID'd the circuit, and verified that the switch is indeed just a hole-filler. I've seen this before – the result of the silly situation where a fully operational light switch costs $2 but a blank piece of plastic to fill a switch hole is $8.

Just for added fun, there's a second wire, (only neutral spliced ?) leaving the utility box… on a circuit that has no other loads.

I suspect an abandoned, now-covered, light fixture. I think I'll clean that up. The wires are 1950s vintage.

Moved on from mystery networking wire to a mystery #electrical circuit.

I have a receptacle and a light switch where the light switch does nothing, and I'm not sure what circuit the outlet is on.

Expecting a call from a guy in Sweden: "Stop flicking that light switch, you're driving us nuts!"

Found where that mystery cable went, and it turned out it was a very short run. An awkwardly-located cableTV coax outlet turned out to have an RJ45 jack on it as well, which I hadn't noticed.

Will have to ponder if I can use that location for anything or if I should remove and patch the hole. But that's a later problem.

Investigating mystery cat5 cable disappearing into my wall, but not emerging in the attic anywhere directly above.

A little more sleuthing required. Not a fan of digging through insulation. :(

Blocking that automated "social media channel" bot that's just boosting all my toots for no reason.

Ha! The cops are waiting for the flushed out alligator behind sandbags, just in case they take any fire from the alligator.

Okay a second piece of cake, just in case an asteroid hits my house tonight, is here to have it go to waste. Plus I'll need the energy to run away from the wreckage.

The #cake I squeezed into the afternoon came out nicely. I took an easy cocoa cake and coconutted it up, adding toasted coconut, coconut cream, and a bit of coconut extract, and threw some chopped nuts in for crunch. Very moist and tasty. Yum.

Just baked up some sourdough bread, and while the oven was hot I did that half-assed chocolate cake recipe. Here are my loaves du jour and the cake peeking in in the background.

Somewhere I have a really quick chocolate cake recipe. That might work.
