No, I never had an account on that βbirdsiteβ, even though I like birds. Simply came here and loved it! When the server I first signed up on was shut down, I set up this tiny instance of one. Photo enthusiast without decent camera, would-be-smallholder-if-only-I-had-more-time, ex-chicken- and beekeeper, seed saver, dog lover, writer, publisher. Curious, enthusiastic, believe in the power of kindness and cooperation.

I watched an earthworm in my garden one day. I stopped whatever I was about to do and really zoomed in on this amazing living being. It carefully explored its surroundings with the tip of its shiny, clean body, and I imagined it could probably feel and smell and taste at the same time, as it was touching the soil softly here and there. Texture, temperature, moisture, acidity⦠all went into its difficult decisions where to move next.
It was beautiful to watch, and strangely humbling.

hi, did you hear about this end of an instance? Isnβt that awful, without notice? π±
edit: a good reminder to download my lists of accounts I follow and the mutes and blocks, as a backup. In a case like this, at least those come in handy, even if followers sadly will be lost.
Always nice to have a new follower, but I like to have an idea of whoβs in the audience if I post for βfollowers onlyβ - which I do occasionally with more personal things.
My follows are open, and I get that some people are shy (Iβm actually quite shy myse) but if we didnβt have any interaction yet, you donβt have any #introduction and not a single pinned post on your profile, then Iβm not going to share personal info with you yet. Not to offend you, but to protect myself.
