Just saw someone's rather kickass LED project for their bike and then I realized I had never ported over my past projects to this account. No longer!
This first video is from around 2020. I didn't end up using the LED helmet daily because having it wired to the bike was problematic and the only battery pack I had available for this solution was quite bulky. Still, it looked neato and I'd probably have broken it out for a group night ride just to blend in better with other weirdos.

This was taken around 2022, but I still ride with this setup. The bike is a Trek 520 touring. The LEDs are 5v WS2812B in a silicone channel that somewhat diffuses the light. Powered by a USB power bank in one of the saddle bags and driven by an ESP32 running WLED.
I generally have it running a red-only, partly because I love how it looks but also because I think red is the most attention-grabbing color to use when riding at night. Just getting the attention of a driver, though, doesn't always equate to safety. I still try to avoid being anywhere near a nearby vehicle's path of travel and generally don't trust any other vehicle on the road to treat my bike properly as another vehicle π«

Why do we "deplane" but no one ever "debusses"? "Deboat" just sounds like I'm using the wrong definite article in German. "Demetro" - I just can't take that seriously. And how is leaving an automobile handled? I know we could, in theory, "decar" (lol, sounds like Descartes), but would it be "deauto" or would we borrow from some misplaced French knowledge picked up in school and write "d'auto" instead?
People in Texas be like "I pulled up to the HEB parking lot and detrucked to begin my shopping adventure"

Today's exercise-induced delirium brought forth some "sage" wisdom about my #jobsearch journey.
Sometimes the job applications require a headline.. Just 100 characters to allegedly help me "stand out from the crowdβ. I've already distilled 10 years of tech experience into two pages of a CV, with lots of potentially pertinent info left out, and now you want even less info?!
Anyway, during my #run this morning I had an idea* to just fill in the required headline with edgy emo/screamo/metalcore band lyrics. The verse that spurred this idea was "I don't need a lifeline, I've got a deathgrip" (Death Grip by The Ghost Inside). I feel like I'd definitely stand out with that strategy, so mission accomplished?
NB! I didn't say it was necessarily a **good* idea

Two years ago I decided to slowly replace a big part of my originally bermuda grass-based lawn with frogfruit (Phyla nodiflora). This year is the first time I haven't seen any large clumps of bermuda grass in any section. There are still a few blades here & there, but it's clearly getting crowded out. Happy to have a lawn that I don't need to water that also actually benefits local pollinators now!
