blue/black heavy ceramic mug with foam milk that has had an espresso pulled into it, leaving behind a random etching of patterns with swirls and dots in varying shades that lends itself to some image which reveals all of your psychological issues, or what kinds of animals you like. Or neither. In this case it could be the chicken we lost this week, walking off to the great chicken roost in the sky. Or maybe it’s a beta fish that jumped out of the water and is just re-entering. Or maybe a parrot.

Remember the hearing aid with dead battery? Turns out that was a premature diagnosis.
That problem has been rolling around the brain and a month later it suggested battery may have dropped below safe charging level, maybe apply higher voltage to raise enough for charger to work? Except the leads showed ZERO for voltage. You can't kick start zero and that seems oddly, fatally dead.
Then today the brain says "what if a wire's broken?” so I snip open the plastic and sure enough, battery is actually alive. Even though it looked fine, one wire had no connection and nudging it revealed it wasn’t spot welded. Next up the brain will decide on soldering or ordering conductive glue. 🧠🧠🤔🤔

Our last chicken went missing last night. I did a couple searches this morning, no luck. Wife searched this afternoon and found a few feathers on edge of woods, unfortunately she also found yellow jacket colony.

The last section of tree was brought down yesterday. Really opens the sky back up but there goes shade for the hammock and all of the other benefits.

Top of tree trunk where all of the branches have been cut off, it’s about 12’ above the ground and there’s an aluminum ladder hooked to one of the branch stumps. The last section is laying on the ground and just missed the old stairs and charcoal container.

Cardinal flower (not quite in focus), with bike on a snowmobile bridge behind and above it. This is on a Class VI road in New Hampshire. Met on a dirt road, this is the device they’re using to maintain woods under backwoods power lines. It’s a 4 wheel drive track machine with lots of ground clearance and on top of a large telescoping are with a big circular saw blade at the end. Didn’t see it in action, but I suspect it’s a cacophony of destruction. Goose Pond near Canaan, NH which was drained and had its dam face rebuilt the last few years. Slowly refilling but lots to go. Red bike is propped up near bottom of a boat launching area It has been dry lately and this long Class VI road, which is normally a morass of mud and water (and bugs) was almost completely dried up. Only a couple water and mud puddles along the entire length, only one of them I needed to go through the water.

Flashback to February when I was almost brought down by ferocious wolves. Luckily the snow was a couple inches deep, slowing the short legged warriors down to a snuffling shuffle. “;^)

A couple Schnauzer’s? I tried to ID them but the app suggested: grouse, otter, blue jay, and domestic cat. “:^) They are on a back out of service road walking with their owner as I went skiing by. No one got hurt. closeup of one of the dogs, mostly black but pronounced white/grey muzzle and eyebrows, with little splashing around belly area.

Flashback to when bike rides were a multi-sport activity.

Playground in a town with “monkey” bars going between large wooden posts in the ground. A boy is swinging between them and is currently holding two rings while legs have swung below the next ring, he’s at a casual angle but you wonder what his next move will be. In the foreground two bikes are laying on the ground, a 29’er Giant MTB and a smaller Specialized with a helmet parked on the handlebar. Behind everything is a large brick wall of mostly red bricks but there’s some stripes of darker brick including “glass cube bricks”.

Pretty sure that I know the answer, but since there's a wide variety of folks with different experiences I thought I'd ask here.
A dozen years ago a little tree started growing near the corner of our deck, 11 feet from corner of the house. “The birds sure seem to love it!”
Fast forward to present and we have a 30ft tree at the corner of the deck, some of the larger branches headed towards the house trimmed off over the years but it's not slowing down. Birds really love it, the shade is nice (albeit a north facing deck), there’s a hammock tied between it and a smaller volunteer tree further away, and the telescope can no longer be used on the deck for most of the sky.
Now that the deck is under construction I'm contemplating cutting it down. I worry about roots reaching foundation, deck or roof damage if some of it broke off during a storm, and the trunk eventually widening to point of growing into deck framing.

p.s. this is New England, trees grow everywhere
