Despite a list of filters two pages long, doom headlines are regularly hitting me in the gut. For someone in deep nervous system exhaustion and AuDHD burnout, this is a real problem. I'm going to try and be on Mastodon a lot less. Saving Sunday for #Monsterdon of course!
I have no idea if this will look any different to mufos - if I'm checking once a day vs many times, who will know or care? But I do value my connections very much. So if it seems like I'm interacting less, this is why. <3
I think as a kid I thought Iβd normalize as an adult. This was definitely part kid logic (βIβll just get taller and fit in better, obviouslyβ) and part kid fantasy (βthings will make more sense as I age and Iβll obviously get less odd and more normal as I learn how adults workβ).
This was super wrong. I am getting so much weirder as I age. And caring so much less about said weirdness.
It really bugs me in these natural disaster or zombie/alien movies when no one has a decent backpack. Everyoneβs running around with these useless purses or crappy little rucksacks that will give you blisters the second you load it up. Come on, people! If you can loot a grocery store you can loot an REI. The concept is the same. Get a freaking compass while youβre at it. Maybe a bike. You can outrun a lot of zombies on a bike. I assume. Grab a hat, too. The last thing you need now is a sunburn.

Please please please stop telling new folks to join mastodon.social, there are so many problems with that instance and this advice. Excellent write-up on this from @FediTips@social.growyourown.services
