derekheldI was running into a really weird awk behavior and fields weren’t showing up how I expected. Spent like an hour trying to figure it out.
It was line endings. I had copied some data from Excel and TextEdit “helpfully” kept the CRLF line endings. 🤦♂️
The worst part is, I have run into this before. But I had to relearn the lesson.

For me it’s recycle. Almost nobody will manage to do it properly without my instructions and monitoring. Most common offense is failure to clean the recyclables. Second is putting in things that are not recyclable and are instead trash. Third is putting compostable paper products in the recycling instead of compost.
