Are there any history nerds out there that can describe why exactly the US went to war with Japan, or Japan went to war with the US. What was the real core problem they were trying to solve?

If you live in the US, you should watch this. If you don't live in the US, you probably already have a low opinion of the US government, so it probably isn't necessary to watch this documentary about Nagasaki. It is really, really, really sad. But people who are funding the US government with their tax dollars need to know what the US government is capable of doing.

So when we watch the US government help the Israeli government to slaughter tens of thousands of people, this isn't outside of the norm for US government policy.

The US government killed hundreds of thousands of people in Japan with two bombs. And the US government was proud of that shit. They burned children alive - thousands of them.

I really think a bunch of nerds could come together and build a bad ass company/non-profit whatever that does tech the right way and we all live happy lives ... not millionaires, but live dignified lives doing useful, interesting work.

No hierarchy. It's just one hundred percent employee owned and operated. No one makes more money than anyone else based on seniority - a union shop.

All of the "profits" are divided up for all of the employees based on the contract. Everyone knows what everyone else makes. While we can hire as many people as we want, the more people we hire, the less money we make. So we'd want to be strategic about adding new members/employees.

This has been my dream since I started in tech back in the 90s - the nineteen fucking nineties. I think if I were more social and a better leader, I could make something happen. I keep looking for someone else who thinks it's a cool idea too, but I think most people think it's risky.
