Apparently this requires restating:
We should not want a European Palantir.
We should not want an open-source Palantir.
We should not want a non-commercial Palantir.
If it is supposed to do what Palantir does, we should not want it.
And I don't care to what extent Palantir's products are shaped by political or profit motives. We know enough to reject its logic altogether.
The current “AI” overinvestments will have long-term costs by creating significant path dependencies: They make harmful things cheaper, speed up the commodification of human labour and shift social norms.

René Obermann ist Europa-Chairman bei Warburg Pincus mit Investments u.a. in Triumph (auch Militärtechnologie) und Consolidated Precision Products. Nur warum Moritz Schularick da mitgemacht hat, ist mir nicht klar.
Wie der Wirtschaftsdienst so etwas durchgehen lässt, ist mir schleierhaft, doch lässt mich befürchten, dass da gerade eine muntere Durchmischung von Politikberatung, Wirtschaftslobbying und Aufrüstungsenthusiasmus stattfindet.

Der Artikel ist ein komplett schambefreiter Aufruf nach krassen Militärinvestitionen in europäische Unternehmen, die zudem die Wirtschaft „ankurbeln“ sollen, ohne jeglichen Hinweis auf politische Steuerungsfähigkeiten und Risiken.

Die Autor*innen machen ihre für den Artikel „Abhängigkeit oder Selbstbehauptung: Deutschlands und Europas Rolle im 21. Jahrhundert entscheidet sich jetzt“ relevanten Rollen nicht transparent bzw. geben an, ihn als „Privatpersonen“ zu verfassen. Thomas Enders ohne Erwähnung seiner Rolle im Aufsichtsrat bei Helsing (Militärtech) zu erwähnen. Jeannette zu Fürstenberg, deren VC-Fund General Catalyst ein breites Militärportfolio hat, inkl. Wenn Militärinvestor*innen eine politische Agenda aufschreiben sollen, klingt das so: "Deutschland muss jetzt Initiator einer „SPARTA“ (...) für die europäische Verteidigung sein. Investitionen in autonome Systeme, KI-Technologien, souveräne Raumfahrt etc. sind nicht nur sicherheitspolitisch zwingend, sie sind auch wichtige Katalysatoren für Wachstum und technologische Souveränität." Nur blöd, wenn das als Wissenschaft statt als Marketing verkauft wird 👇
