The current “AI” overinvestments will have long-term costs by creating significant path dependencies: They make harmful things cheaper, speed up the commodification of human labour and shift social norms.

What can we learn from the dot-com crash and Uber about the long-term effects of overinvestments? What about "AI"? (spoiler: lower costs for compute/energy, sectoral knowledge destruction, again more economic inequality) I have put some thoughts into a blog post
