Good Law Project is planning to fight back against TERF bullies with legal action:

"Jess O’Thomson, trans rights lead at the Good Law Project, said

the only way to stop bullies is to stand up to them. We want to support inclusive organisations who are being threatened, alongside the trans people who are now finding themselves excluded."

Phillipson has announced that non binary and trans teachers can be addressed as Mx should they wish, however, there is a catch. They cannot insist upon being addressed as they wish but only request that they are. This is because "teachers and pupils must be treated with respect" but "... people are able to express their views on this topic as well". But here is the thing, these two things can be mutually exclusive, since one person's view of using requested honourifics may be antagonistic against such requests which will result in denials of such, and thus lead to insulting others who make such requests.

We must be clear here that 'no one persons gender identity is another person's opinion to endlessly debate' and yet, once again, that is exactly what is happening here, with yet more debate over the legitimacy of another human beings most intimate sense of themselves as a gendered being.

We must be clear that no matter what religion or none, what philosophical outlook upon life, culture and society you may have, such things are not universal and should never be used to determine legislation or statutory guidance let alone the way we treat with or address each other in wider society.

I notice the Christian cross that Phillipson wears and frankly I do not give a fucking shit what she may or may not believe. She should leave that at home, and when devising legislation or statutory guidance around issues of human rights consider purely the rights that we all should have, universally, and the attendant responsibilities that exercising such rights entails.

You may have the right to consider trans women to be "biological males", but that does not give you the right to use insulting language to address us, any more than my right may be to consider all Christians to be bigoted pieces of shit gives me the right to address all in such grotesque ways. We live in a society which is made up of myriad peoples with a diversity of views and opinions, and as such, we must never tolerate intolerance, not even within ourselves.

Calling a teacher by a half century old honourific is the absolute least we can demand of our children as we take them through education, or are we going to have to demand that trans kids have the right to call cisgender teachers by any honourifics they seem appropriate, even if those cisgender teachers might be offended by that? Somehow I do not think that latter would be tolerated.

Can we get the Diversity Role Models (RCN 1142548) charity fundraiser at least to its goal amount so that they do not have to cut back services to LGBTQ youth? Details are in their JustGiving page, link is below πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ

Oh how nice and predictable it is to see @PinkNews@flipboard.com platforming a TERF group in it's reporting of a feminist campaigner in Morocco being arrested for wearing a tee πŸ™„πŸ™„

Tell me again how this shitty rag is not transphobic?

@StillIRise1963@mastodon.world @forthy42@mastodon.net2o.de and iron and steel will have to be gone from white society as well, as that developed from meteoric iron in Africa.

And no globe either, nor in a heliocentric solar system as that theory was first developed in ancient Egypt.

What next? Ahh chemistry, originally from the Middle East I think. Oh and modern numbers and the numeral 0 which came from India.

And the alphabet which goes back to Canaan.

We have an alert for heat stress for the coming week, with forecasts of 31 to 33 Celsius.

Time for me to keep myself as cool as possible.

With all the current hoohaa about trans women participating in sports, and also trans women in single sex spaces, it is very interesting to revisit the 90s and watch Starship Troopers where:

In high school football
🏈🏈 is played by mixed sex teams

During basic recruit training into the Mobile Infantry, all facilities including showers are mixed sex and communal

Back when this movie came out and while I was in the RAF, I barely gave this any thought, yet now this is plastered all across our press and news media like a rash.

There is an open letter to Marks & Sparks to complain about their treatment of a member of staff regarding recent transphobic press reporting πŸ‘‡πŸΌπŸ‘‡πŸΌ

https://openletter.earth/an-appeal-to-mands-over-transphobia-05670967

"Dear Marks & Spencer

We, the undersigned, are writing to express our serious concern and disappointment regarding your recent public response to a customer complaint involving a transgender employee.

According to media coverage, M&S chose to apologise to a customer who took offence simply because a transgender employee offered her assistance on the shop floor. The complaint, rooted in overt transphobia, should never have been legitimisedβ€”let alone publicised and appeased. By doing so, M&S has not only failed to support its employee, but has inadvertently signalled that discriminatory views will be entertainedβ€”if not validatedβ€”under the guise of customer feedback.

This is not a matter of differing opinions. It is a matter of human dignity, workplace safety, and legal protection. Transgender people deserve the same respect and rights as any other staff member. Under the Equality Act 2010, gender reassignment is a protected characteristic. Discriminating against someone because they are transgender is unlawful. While the recent Supreme Court ruling reinforced the right to hold gender-critical beliefs, it did not give anyone the legal right to act on those beliefs in a way that harasses, excludes, or degrades others.

By publicising your apology to this customer, M&S has created the impression that discriminatory attitudes are open to accommodation. This not only undermines the legal protections afforded to your transgender staff, but also invites further hate and harassment toward themβ€”placing their safety and well-being at risk.

We, the undersigned, urge M&S to publicly retract its apology and to reaffirm its commitment to the Equality Act 2010, making clear that transphobia will not be tolerated and that all employeesβ€”regardless of gender identityβ€”will be protected from discrimination.

If such a statement is not issued promptly, manyβ€”including ourselvesβ€”will have no choice but to reconsider supporting your business and may call for a wider boycott.

Your values matter. As it says on your company website, at
https://www.marksandspencer.com/c/pride , you are committed to respect your LGBTQ+ employees. This is an opportunity to demonstrate that inclusion, respect, and integrity are not just corporate slogans, but principles you are prepared to stand byβ€”especially when it counts most.

We look forward to a response.

Sincerely

A Concerned UK Resident"

Checking on Kate Nash's Wiki page, GERM appears to have hit the Top 100 in the UK at 100!

Not bad for a non album single that I don't think is getting any airplay
