It's a famous trope that tech oligarchs think they could totally have done a physics degree, but then they confirm it by showing e.g. how they don't understand that producing electrical energy isn't "making new electrons", which is something I learned around 7th or 8th grade physics class.
Does Sam Altman also think a water faucet creates new water? Or that wind is the creation of new air?

I did a thing today that I wanted to do for years: cycling the entire Berlin Mauerweg (path along the former Wall)
167km on a cargo bike
14h 58m total (11h 32m moving)
4913kcal burned
It was challenging, therapeutic, and an interesting way to connect with history. And I got to see parts of Berlin I hab never seen before.
Iβm incredibly happy that I finally did this.
With all my aversion to generative βAIβ, this might surprise some, but I do believe that real artificial intelligence is eventually going to be a thing.
But I donβt think itβs anywhere close, nor that the current hype tech is the way there.
Also: itβll be horrible, for the artificial people.
Hereβs why:
If there is no immaterial component to a person, no soul or whatever, then a person is the result of a material state, and can therefore be built, somehow.
And if there is, I think itβs just human hubris to believe that only our fleshy selves are capable of having one.

If I wanted to do some bike navigation along a predefined route (Berlin Mauerweg to be specific), whatβs currently the iOS compatible thing for that?
I know about Strava and I can fall back on that, but maybe thereβs something cool OSM based?
Iβm not sure about the current state of Komoot, but something bad went down there a while ago I think.
I havenβt posted back in a while
Often, local antifa manages to get together a group at the destination train station to discourage any attacks or defend against them. But they canβt be everywhere and attacks can still happen once the travelers disperse throughout the city on their way home and groups get smaller and smaller.
Last summer I was at CSD Leipzig and there was a group of nazis on the train back to Berlin with us, making very explicit threats and starting physical attacks while still on the train.
Our group stayed together after arriving for safety and to decompress from it all.
Safety in numbers, folks!
Neonazi attack last night in Berlin on people returning from a small town pride event.
They do this a lot, travel on the same trains and then attack at the destination, while trying to provoke fear the whole time on the journey.
