Sometimes I try to think through just how many layers of virtualization and indirection happen on my system even just opening a web browser and going to example.com all the way down to the CPU actually doing transistor stuff with AND and NAND and OR whatevers.
Like you probably have 3 or 4 before you even get to the OS kernel.

What they post "as a joke" today is what they're going to try to do tomorrow. And tbh I don't have a lot of confidence that SCOTUS would stop them from just doing that.

Though I've also seen speculation that it could be an even stupider reason, like they just fucked up something in a site or CMS update

I refuse to believe that all of these are actual real security companies. Surely this list is 50% jokes to see if people will fall for some AI nonsense slop.
Sure, I've not really engaged with the small-medium security vendor space in a long time, but even still...

I always get a bit of a kick when writing hypotheticals about a generic person and using she/her pronouns for someone who is a technical or management person. Like "At this stage you will need to contact your system administrator and she will be able to approve the changes". It feels even a step more subversive than using they/them since they/them can still make people who are patriarchy brained just pass it off as another way to refer to what is very likely to be "the man in charge".
What is up with Anthropic and OpenAI and several other of the AI companies declaring themselves "Public Benefit Corporations"? Is it a PR stunt, a tax dodge, or one of those stupid "Effective Altruism" true believer nonsense where they legit think their AI is some Roko's Basilisk bullshit?
Sure is weird just how many "we have to restrict all these personal freedoms to save these poor victims" policies that get put out by both parties have virtually no input from the majority of the supposed "victims" themselves, and instead rely on everyone BUT the "victims". Hell you can make the questions as leading as you want.
Take a poll - I can GUARANFUCKINGTEE you that you ask autistic people: "Assuming that vaccines cause autism in children in 1 in 1000 cases, do you still support vaccination of children?" And you'll get 90%+ responses of "yes, why the fuck are you even asking this stupid question?!"
Take a poll - I can GUARANFUCKINGTEE you that you ask trans kids, nonbinary kids, and hell, include any gender diverse kids - tomboys or femboys or whatever else "Do you support social transition and puberty blockers for trans kids to help them not make an irreversible mistake? And 90%+ would be like "umm yeah? If they want to be a different gender, let them. It's not my problem." Hell, even talk to "detransitioners", and an overwhelming majority of them will tell you "sure, let trans kids be trans kids, even though transition wasn't right for me at that time or place".
Any of the cities which are supposedly crime ridden warzones from all these undocumented immigrants. Overwhelmingly they're going to be like "yeah they're not a problem."
Cis women and girls "are you scared about trans women in your bathrooms?" A majority are just ... No? They've never caused me any problems."
Girls who have placed lower than a trans girl in sports, the huge majority have no particular issue with it. They lost this time, they'll do better next time.
All of this shit is coming from people who want to talk over and stick words in the mouth of everyone But the actual "victims".
There should be Trans Summer Camp where folks who have been out as trans for a while can teach and mentor those who haven't.
I'd probably end up taking some of the "how to fem" courses because I never did learn that, but I could teach a whole semester on How To Be Trans And Terminally Online.
Jess's Top 10 Guide to being Trans and Terminally Online (it probably largely applies to others as well, but being trans adds another layer to a lot of this)
