@nora@blob.love Someone has an amulet of mage hands. But the caveat to being always on is that they mostly just work like regular hands. Unless working in some other way seems cool and interesting.
@nora@blob.love There was the whole Combat Wheelchair thing that came out a few years back

re: Is it ethical for trans people to leave the US?
I mean, in my opinion, it's always ethical for someone to move elsewhere. ESPECIALLY if they're a minority facing discrimination.

re: Is it ethical for trans people to leave the US?
@cwebber@social.coop If you want to say it's ethical for people from other countries to immigrate to the US, but it's unethical for people in the US to emigrate elsewhere? I don't really know what to tell you.
I know it's a gross over simplification of things, but imagine being the sort of person who believes that a better world is one where the rich are far far FAR richer than they are already, poor and minority people are enslaved or dead, and maybe if you're REALLY lucky, you can lick a little food dust off the floor that fell out of the mouth of someone who got a few crumbs from someone who managed to find some table scraps in the dumpster that were put there because they were so rotten and gross even the bootlickers wouldn't eat them. But hey, at least you're not one of THOSE people below you.
Opening LinkedIn to cyberstalk old colleagues and see where they're at these days and see all these people in my connections like... Who the hell are you? I mean I guess at some point in time I knew you well enough to click connect with you, but beyond that ... Your name and profile picture is just drawing a huge blank.
I don't know if autocorrect has gotten worse, my ability to spell "good enough" has, or both, but God, I have to copy paste words into a search engine to figure out the right way to spell it way to damn often these days
I mean, if you're gonna stuff an "AI chip" in my phone already, then just cram a little GPT-2 model or something that can run locally and do literally what it's designed to do - a statistical analysis of words and tell you what the most likely word you are trying to spell based on your misspelling, and the words around it are.
I don't want calling home to the borg AI in my phone keyboard. I just want a less worthless spell check.

COVID politics doomer
4-5 years ago, I thought: wow when I tell my grand niblings about how during the pandemic people were going to animal feed stores to fight over the last tube of horse paste rather than taking a widely tested and very safe vaccine
But now I have to imagine when I try to tell them about that, they'll just ask "which pandemic?" and "what are vaccines?"
Cuomo really out here doing some:
"I think we should help out poor people"
"But you have not given away everything you own until you are poor yourself. I am very smart "
https://bsky.app/profile/yasharali.bsky.social/post/3lvvyb4plwk2a
"But Mr. Cuomo, you sit on the board of these charities that are supposed to help people in need. And yet you still have a net worth in the millions of dollars. If you really believe in those causes, you would donate all of your wealth to them"
