In collaboration with Audio Describer JJ Hunt, the Talk Description to Me podcast is some of my most valuable work, describing the visuals of current events and the world around us for blind and low vision folk.

I'm a busker and arts creator, and income precarity is my middle name, so here's a link if you feel moved to make a one-time donation, just as though you were dropping cash in my guitar case, without experiencing the griminess of a downtown subway station

Geek attack! Astronaut and author and space law crafter and musician Mr. Hadfield did some book signing for kids who are CNIB clients. The signatures were treated so that the print also became tactile. A friend who knows me well had the opportunity to skim off an extra just for me. Oh Mr. Hadfield, weβre one step closer to an interview, then an informal jam.

The Curiosity Club is a monthly group I run for the CNIB Foundation in which topics on science, culture and art get presented for a Blind and Low Vision audience. Next Curiosity Club Tues. August 19, 2:00-3:30 p.m. EDT via Zoom, Nature's Invisible Senses We will once again be joined by our favourite excellent presenter Claudette Martin. Step into a world where ordinary senses are anything but. What if you could see an invisible world, or navigate by a compass no one else can read? Inspired by the wildlife in Claudetteβs backyard, we'll explore the world of osprey and bees through their eyes (and antennae!), discovering how these amazing creatures perceive a reality far richer, more vibrant, and utterly astonishing than anything we can comprehend. RSVP to Christine.malec@cnib.ca to receive the Zoom link.
@jfayre@mstdn.ca and I are rewatching #StarTrekTheOriginalSeries and we just got to #AmocTime where Spock experiences Pon Farr. The audio description is somewhat flowery and prone to random editorializing. When Kirk and Spock square off for their fight, the narrator says, "They face one another like a Robin Hood and Little John." What could he have meant by that? We wondered. We also wonder how many more episodes it will take till another woman becomes hysterical and must be sedated.
