My current night time eBook is Tom Holland's translation of Herodotus' The Histories. The fact that it is read by Frank Lavety in his gentle Irish accent makes it all the more a sleepy time book. But you know, I would have loved to have met Herotodus and had a drink with him. His observations are so passionate and often funny even when he is seriously telling a dire tale. He tells the story of the ancients in a manner that still appeals even to this day long, long into his future. He would have been a fun chap to meet. If they invent a time machine he's top of my list to go and visit, other than the giant dinosaurs of course 😊

It looks like the problems with my instance have been sorted so I should be able to interact with you all again ☺
️ I'm up early with the parrots this morning - it's really dark when I get up now - and having a lovely wee cuddle with Ziggy, who is grumbling away happily. Jadie greeted me briefly when I lifted the cover, but she's gone back to snooze for a bit - and rightly so. We think she is probably about 17 years old now and definitely allowed to have a lie in ☺️ Toby, of course, has his beak well and truly burrowed into his food bowl and is munching away happily.
Ziggy has just started singing "Doot doot doot!" in her sweet little voice. Obviously very happy with the cuddles today ☺️
Work today. Another frantic one on the cards with my first meeting at 8 am so I'll need at least two mugs of coffee before then!

Good morning everyone ☀️ I'm playing Upstairs Ninja this morning as Grant and the parrots snooze away happily downstairs. They were nice and quiet for me this morning too, allowing me to sleep a little later 😊 Just as well as I was completely knackered yesterday running around after Toby, trying to get him to stop trying to go behind the telly, chew on wires or Grant's figurines and generally causing havoc. I think it's all his way of letting me know how unhappy he was with me being away - like a toddler acting up - but boy is it tiring!
Still no crochet orders - I think Etsy might have put my shop on hold as I needed to fill in some tax info - so I have been working on two C2C blankets for family that I started over a year ago. Of course I now have to order more specific coloured yarn as I have run out 😂
Now, to work, to deal with the Inbox of Doom!

Good morning Fellow Travellers around the Sun 🌞 It looks like my instance is having some issues loading posts today, so apologies in advance if I don't see and/or respond to any of yours.
I'm back up early with the parrots again today after an eventful trip home yesterday in which we stopped at Stirling, where I and many others had to get off, but the train doors did not open and none of the staff apparently noticed that nobody got off or on the train! We ended up heading merrily on towards Edinburgh until one of the crew on the train managed to phone the driver to let him know. Luckily for me we then got permission to stop at Falkirk, where I was heading to anyway, but a lot of people were not happy.
The parrots were so excited to see me that Ziggy even forgot to bite me and we're cuddling again now with her grumbling away. It's really, really good to be home 😊

It's another blustery day here in the Highlands of Scotland and I am preparing to make another sacrifice to the Train Gods as I am travelling home this morning again.
It's been a bittersweet visit, but so nice to see my Mum and sisters again. I'll be glad to get back to the madness of Parrot Central though 🙂

Good morning everyone from the Highlands of Scotland, where I arrived safely and just a wee bit later than scheduled yesterday after a largely uneventful train journey. Once again ScotRail excelled by not offering any means to buy even a coffee on board a train packed with tourists, never mind a trolley service , but that is another matter.
It's strange here without Dad, but his memories are everywhere and my sisters have added a lovely large portrait of him to the family photos wall where I can see him smiling out at me as I type. My sister gave me his binoculars to take home for Grant to use while birding and his hard drive full of audio books for myself. There's a lot of listening on there as the old pirate was prolific 😁
A gentle day on the cards. I don't have any crochet orders yet, but that's okay as I'm planning to catch up on some family crochet projects for a change.
