One of the more common arguments against anarchism is that it's unrealistic to base society on mutual respect/aid/cooperation. It's an honor system, therefore it's a fantasy. So democratic/federal republics are considered a more practical, realistic alternative. But even those are an honor system requiring mutual respect/aid/cooperation too; we're seeing that clearly now as it breaks down. Even fascism is an honor system: it wouldn't gain or hold power if people didn't cooperate with it.
