Low Quality Facts

Social media can be a depressing place. So please take a moment to enjoy tonight's Low Quality Ad, this Gotta Go Fast mug. Look at Sonic. He looks demented. Like the artist drew him from memory and also has amnesia. That's fun, right? Gave you a few seconds of happiness, eh?

This is exactly how Sonic looked in the original movie trailer before fans demanded they change his design.

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social The more I think about those events, the more certain I am that the entire 'badly rendered sonic' was a marketing stunt.

They did that, then created an fan outrage (easy to trigger, it's Sonic fans we're talking about after all). Then go back, change it, and come out looking like heroes.

That got the movie a lot of attention, and probably was received better than it would otherwise have been.

(I'm not saying the movie was terrible, I enjoyed it quite a bit, but it wouldn't have gotten all that praise if it wasn't for the bad trailer)
