I see this prompted a bunch of spicy takes, so to be clear -- in the near term, 🤷
. SDDM will continue to work as it does now.
Why the 😞
? It's about uncertainty. Is a significant amount of SDDM development and maintenance effort coming from KDE folks, who will now be working on PLM instead? Are Linux distributions migrating from SDDM to PLM?

@emaste@mastodon.social Yeah we have been having a discussion about this recently, was wondering if when someone was going to pipe up. Hope you can find out what is going on before the make KDE completely Linux only.

We are not sure where you folks are getting your info, but it is dead wrong.
FreeBSD users will still be able to boot into Plasma with any other login manager that works on FreeBSD, including SDDM, which is upstream from Plasma anyway.
Linux users will just have one more option.
Plasma has no hard systemd dependencies.
