Two years and one month ago I bought an APC Back UPS - BX750MI to replace the very reliable old APC UPS which I'd had forever (through multiple battery changes).

This one, with no warning, suddenly started sounding the alarm (and did again after power cycle) and the last message via 'apcaccess' was "ONBATT REPLACEBATT"

Reviews on Amazon say this is not unusual and also that it's not designed to be easy to replace the battery (although it is allegedly possible).

I could buy a battery (Β£53) or just buy another of these units (Β£87, and probably less hassle) but what I really want is a UPS which:

1. has a similar capacity (750VA)
2. has a user replaceable battery
3. warns you (when talking to a Linux PC) in good time before deciding the battery needs replacing NOW

Any suggestions folks?
