So. Plotters.

You know, those printers that hold a pen and follow an SVG?

Ten years ago I tried to convert a DIY laser cutting rig to do plotting and it didn't work out. I then tried one of the ones that draws on the wall with string and never could get it correctly tuned.

After all this time is there a lazy consumer solution? Does anyone use a plotter on the regular and love it?

IIRC one of the most common "languages"of the plotters was HPGL.

@futurebird@sauropods.win yes and yes! I've built a large string polargraph (7x3m) and use an A3 AxiDraw for making holiday cards. #PlotterToot has lots of other people making cool art with their plotters.

@futurebird@sauropods.win I also wrote https://plotter.vision/ for turning 3D STL files into 2D wireframe SVG for plotting.
