Edit: People are now wondering if this is real or #AI.

Since no source can be found, the bright colours tend to indicate AI, as the colors have no function at a depth where no light arrives.

-----

This morning, I woke up with this video with some wonders of our world, posted by
@nhok@ieji.de on Mastodon.

Be surprised and enjoy this glance at what our earth offers 8,000 meters below sea level.

(I haven't seen anything like this from Mars yet

@paulschoe@mastodon.world @nhok@ieji.de Well, I found the origin of some of these pics on an Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/p/DLTJblnMu2r/ (different video) They had this video you posted but deleted it later.

This account, which misuses the title of a well-known documentary, β€˜Ocean Odyssey,’ is notorious for AI! Sometimes they mix real pics in their account. All for collecting a maximum of followers for their promotion for an online "gambling casino".

They never react when people comment that they show AI.

@paulschoe@mastodon.world @nhok@ieji.de it looks like AI and there's not a source given.

Thanks, Evan, I'll keep an eye open and will post here if I get any confirmation on reality or of proof of AI.

@paulschoe@mastodon.world @nhok@ieji.de there's a good article in Nature from this year showing discoveries of animal ecosystems at that depth. They are chemo synthetic -- they live off the energy from volcanic vents. Unfortunately, they don't look a lot like the animals in nhok's video.

@NatureMC@mastodon.online @paulschoe@mastodon.world @nhok@ieji.de so, one of the big question marks is how colourful all the animals are. At that depth, almost no light is present, so there's not a lot of evolutionary value in colourful displays. Nobody can see them!
