We’ve thought carefully about building this feature, and we hope it broadens your use of Mastodon!

However, you're in control: if you don’t want your content to be quoted, you can find the setting to prevent future quotes of your content under Settings -> Preferences -> Other (in Mastodon 4.4).

Unless you control who follows you "only your followers" is meaningless. "Only accounts you follow" or "only mutuals" would be preferable.

@Mastodon@mastodon.social If my server is 4.3 and mastodon.social is 4.4 (pre release) will I still be able to stop someone from quote posting my posts on that server?

@Mastodon@mastodon.social Quick question that I'm not seeing in the FAQ or docs: when is something a Quote and when is something a ShallowQuote? In what cases should I expect each?
