While calling modern far right, neoliberal, or conservative movements β€œfascist” can undermine the horrors of historical fascism, not doing so undermines the real dangers marginalized groups face today.

The holocaust didn't start when the first person was murdered in a gas chamber, but was in hindsight historically named to have started in 1933 when the fascists took power. It needed the ideological foundation of dehumanization through propaganda to justify the segregation, the many laws against Jewish people, the expropriation of their personal belongings, the deportations, and finally the ghettos and concentration camps.

And right now they're constructing new propaganda departments, with concentration camps already in the making.
