I know we all love to criticize older generations, but in the 20th century if someone did a Nazi salute you could almost guarantee that a WW2 veteran would punch them in the head, and I think there was a great societal benefit to that.

My dad was raised by racist parents in Appalachia.
Fighting in World War 2 turned him into an anti-racist.
He made a black best friend. As in his best friend, I mean his best friend in the whole world. As in, at my dad's funeral, his best friend fell to his knees and cried out: "I was supposed to go first!"
My dad would kick the shit out my MAGA nephew if he were still alive today
