So Trump has soldiers patrolling the streets of DC. My monthly book club meeting is in DC tonight. If I see a soldier, I wonder what I'll do. Greet them? Ignore them? Thank them for their service?

Military weapons and personnel shouldn't be used in police work. But soldiers follow lawful orders. It's certainly not a Guardmember's fault that they're patrolling DC.

What a thing to have to worry about.

@Professor_Stevens@mastodon.gamedev.place Frown. Give them a thumbs down. Say nothing. It's not the soldier's fault they're there, but they need to see that people disapprove and are not just rolling over to a tyrant.

I dunno. I'm not sure the Guardmembers need to see that. They probably know it, may even be on our side. What I wish I could communicate to them, really, is my sympathy for their having volunteered for national service, only to have their time wasted while Donald Trump flails around looking for more ways to get people to forget about The Epstein Files. It's abusive to the people of DC, but it's also a pathetic exploitation of the soldiers.

@Professor_Stevens@mastodon.gamedev.place I guess you could save the thumbs down for the law enforcement goons because those bastards like it.
