I know we all love to criticize older generations, but in the 20th century if someone did a Nazi salute you could almost guarantee that a WW2 veteran would punch them in the head, and I think there was a great societal benefit to that.

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social There has been a lot of revanchism in West Germany though, and the denazification fizzled quickly. Even in the US, Nazi party member von Braun didn't quite live a life of shame but instead spearheaded a space program...
