and like at least 30 are #timeMachine snapshots and mounted disk images for xcode even though i rarely launch #xcode so clearly i've done something wrong.,

@emory@soc.kvet.ch I wonder if it would work better if you turn on server performance mode in NVRAM. It increases a lot of kernel parameters.
I've been using this on my Mac mini servers, but haven't tried it on Apple Silicon machines yet.
