Someone sent this link to me via iMessage. The link opened in my default web browser, where I was able to enjoy it and have a laugh with my partner.

I want to share this with others, I thought! Excellent, this is on Mastodon! I have a Mastodon account, but not on this server. This server is aus.social, but I’m on infosec.exchange. You see, Mastodon is decentralized for some reason I can’t readily explain. I can still like and reshare (boost? I forgot what it is called) toots from other servers, but not if I’m at the link of a server where I don’t have an account.

So I copied the link to the clipboard and went in search of my Mastodon client, which is called Ice Cubes for some reason. I opened up search, pasted the link and searched for it, which brought up the same toot I had open in my web browser, which doesn’t open in my Mastodon client for reasons I don’t fully understand. Now that I had this toot open in my native Mastodon client, where I’m logged in via an account on infosec.exchange, I can now like (star?) and reshare (boost?) this funny toot!
