"The general rule of thumb for urban roads is that a 1mph reduction in avg speeds will result in a 6% reduction in casualties (Taylor, Lynam & Baruya, 2000 for you nerds). Thatβs because in the speed range of 20mph to 30mph any reduction both increases the ability of the parties involved in an incident to avoid a crash and the resulting severity of any injuries."
