Despite my own criticisms regarding Meta, let's be real.
They don't need to crawl the fedi for training data, they kinda run Facebook and Instagram which provides much more data.
Let's not be so quick to grab our pitchforks without legitimate evidence.

@dansup@mastodon.social Even without rumours or evidence or legal 'safeguards' to the contrary, there is a gaping hole in this logic.
The safest and most defensible stance is to assume that Meta is a bad actor.
Reality has shown this to be the case, time and time again; but even without that, we need to assume the worst.

Yes, all those platforms provide much more training data, but let's be real, why would they use only those services training data when they can also crawl fedi and get even more data? That's what they do. Also it serves as a way for them to make a statement, because if they crawl us they're basically stating that even if we're not on Meta Platforms, they're still going to use our data. I don't know if they pay you to have shit takes at this point honestly. I think I recall a few other shit takes like this from you about meta.
