divVerent@gleick@mas.to Why does anyone even want this to happen? This is wrong on so many levels, even MAGA should oppose this.
She had clearly no intent to deceive and defraud, but may have fallen for one of many traps in the US immigration systems, which is one of the most difficult to navigate worldwide.
Why "detain" (actually arrest) such a person, pay for transporting them, feeding them etc. - when they could have just refused her at the border and let her sort out things with the US embassy in Canada and/or arrange for transport to New Zealand herself?
This is just as unreasonable as it gets.

It is unreasonable but that's because the goal here is suffering and chaos for anyone who isn't rich or openly and loudly supporting the dictator.
They literally don't care how much they spend and who they hurt, so long as they make people too afraid to stand up for what's right.
