It's like the tariff thing: how's it an emergency if the problem has been going on for decades???
Emergencies are, by definition, something that's come up suddenly and recently.
....And in the case of DC, the facts say that crimes of all types are at 30yr lows (having lived here since 1993, I can attest to the improvements). So what's the provable basis for claiming an emergency?

@ferricoxide@evil.social Exactly. He's going around claiming everything's an emergency. Like fucking chicken-little. And hopefully judges will be informing him that it's not. And BTW, my brother and his family live in DC. He graduated law school there in the mid 80s and then got a job with a law firm. It's been almost like a second home for me because I visited him there dozens of times. It's a beautiful city, but kind of overcrowded I think. The traffic there is insane.
Anyway, it feels kind of personal what just happened there. I haven't spoken to my brother about it yet because he and his wife and kid are in Europe right now. But I imagine they're pretty pissed off about it.
