Hey #btrfs nerds, what's the current best-practice strategy for migrating to a new (single) drive, without modifying the old drive, which will then be removed. Is it using seeding volumes?

@pjf@cloudisland.nz oh, not modifying the old drive, as in keeping the contents on it?

normally to move/migrate to a new drive you’d add the new device, remove the old device, and sit back until the old device is empty.

@froosh@aus.social : Yeah, keeping the contents on it. I've got a new laptop with M.2 bays only, my old laptop has a 2.5" bay only, and I'll be doing the transfer by extracting a drive and popping it in a USB enclosure.

I'd like to preserve the ability for the old laptop to boot and work until I'm sure the new laptop is all transferred over and past any teething issues.
