Arghhh ! more enshittification despite new recommendations to let us choose passwords without silly restrictions.

" At least 1 digit, 2 lowercase characters, 1 uppercase character, 1 symbol, at least 12 characters long. At most 2 same characters in a row."
(the last one is is the bigger since you can't just pad an 8 character password with same symbol).

In essence, any login requires "forgot my password" step so one never enters a password and it becomes email verification only. And as they never state those restrictions when login in, you can never remember which password to enter for that service due to random restrictions.

@jfmezei@mstdn.ca You need a password manager.

@mariellequinton@ottawa.place No, I have a stll functioning brain. I don't want some cloud based thing with all my passwods in it, and without "cloud" it means a password manager exists on a single device only.

@jfmezei@mstdn.ca The best passwords are big long ones you can't really memorize, which is why the password manager is a better solution than remembering them. I guess you could just go old school and write them down on paper.

@mariellequinton@ottawa.place When every site has different drules for password minimums, you can't "remember" passwords. And they don't reveal their proprietary rules until you "forget password" and get the email and start to reset the password.
