@jbaggs@infosec.exchange indeed it is encrypted. Bastards. The encryption is actually a convenient(for the cops) outgrowth of a DOJ policy telling police departments they should encrypt their broadcasts to protect victim identities

@MLE_online@social.afront.org That's very "convenient". Out here we still get FM broadcasts in the plain with descriptions of victims as "Xray, 16 years old" (Still find it weird that police use such terms for apparent gender identity.) instead of naming a person.

I think we lose a lot though not being able to monitor what the police are actually doing and just taking their word for it.
