So, the question now is if I pre-adjust the middle of the pattern (around the waist), or use the "large" pattern? From prior experience with the shirt, doing so will make the shoulders not fit well. I think what I'll do is draw a line at the waist area from the "M" to the "L" and follow that line instead of the "M". This should only be the front pieces and back pieces.

Okay, the plan now per the suggestions here is to cut out the "M" pattern, and then trace it onto some of the cheap fabric I have (the white thin cotton there) and pin it together (sew?), and check for fit. Before tracing and cutting the Barney colored purple duck fabric (quack quack?) #sewing
