The UK has had 8 prime ministers in the past 20 yearsβ¦
Sir Keir Starmer
Rishi Sunak
Liz Truss
Boris Johnson
Theresa May
David Cameron
Gordon Brown
Tony Blair
Does it seem odd that elections are typically every 4/5 yearsβ¦and yet the average term length for a PM during this time works out as 2.5 years.
Is that strong and stable government?
Is it representative government when parties pick their leadersβ¦so leading parties pick the PM midterm and the electorate is left locked out?

@JugglingWithEggs@mstdn.social Isn't the argument that under our parliamentary system we're governed by a party and not a person )as with a presidential system)? And that's why the ruling party gets to choose their leader without needing to call a general election.
While I agree that FPTP has huge flaws, I also think that the cult of personality around the PM is a problem. They're not the president, they're just the MP from Islington.
