I hear you! It was almost 30 years ago for me...I only took HRT for 2 years, then I was home-free!.Menopause was a breeze! I didn't gain weight or have side-effects either.The transition was almost seamless.
@cosmiclibrarian@universeodon.com @Shanmonster@c.im I'm really glad there's been no side effects for the HRTs I'm on! I'm in midst of menopause. Perimenopause was worse because that lasted for over 5 years.
@PhoenixSerenity@beige.party @cosmiclibrarian@universeodon.com perimenopause was awful for me. I swear I've been dealing with hormonal bullshit for over a decade now. The HRT has helped me, but I have a completely different body now. I used to be a professional dancer with very low body fat and no boobs. Now I'm curvy and even looking at a piece of bread makes my tits and belly grow. My gut issues have gotten much worse, and I went from feeling young to feeling like an old lady in less than a year. I had to retire from dance because of exhaustion issues.

That's awful. It's too bad that a really good OBGYN has not helped you...Do read the book that I recommended. It's worth it!

I understand because perimenopause completely changed my life. I was also with a partner who got angry at me because I was in so much physical abdominal pain, even before bleeding out for over a month, that I couldn't be physically intimate for 2 months. I had to deal with that emotional abuse, while trying to get doctors to take me seriously. It was pure living hell for me pre & post diagnosis with a partner who wasn't compassionate or understanding while being treated as a paranoid woman by doctors. I had to get therapy for those traumas after diagnosis.

Oh, yeah...perimenopause. My periods got real bad...I got a migraine on day one, and had bad bleeding too.
