Gleichschaltung was the process by which Adolf Hitler established totalitarian control and "coordination" over all aspects of German society, from the economy and professional organizations to the media and education. Everything was subject to "coordination" including leisure activities—even those for children. All social, political, and cultural organizations were to be controlled and run according to Nazi ideology. The Nazi’s started with the Civil Service, issuing the "Act for the Restoration of the Professional Civil Service". This act legalized removing anyone of non-Aryan descent from the civil service.
