@neil@mastodon.neilzone.co.uk today I learned you can just go to an energy provider's website, enter any address you feel like, and say "hello yes I would like to start paying for electricity/gas to these premises, effective from some point in the nearish future, here's a direct debit instruction to this effect" and they just take your word for it that you're related to/responsible for those premises now
