So, I've been secretly dreading coming back to this one.

Roadrunner on the
#SNES
Death Valley Rally is a game that haunted my childhood. I remember it being quite challenging, but I have learnt that it is, in fact, unforgiving.

I need to remember how to get more lives, as you only start with 3, and there are no continues, and most of those you will haemorrhage on boss fights, even the first boss fight isn't particularly easy!

Despite the game being, somewhat, trash there is clearly some amount of charm and craft put into the game with the animations. I can appreciate it despite the game constantly assaulting me with a lead pipe.

I will endeavour to beat this one over the next week. If I can beat Chuck Rock 2 in a single continue, I can do this!

@ishambard@cupoftea.social There was a Nintendo contest when I was a kid in the electronics shops: it was a kiosk with an SNES (or maybe a NES, not sure, actually,) playing Roadrunner, and you got a floppy disc to record your scores. It was HARD. Especially as you only had one shot every time.

That would be a miserable game to do a high score challenge on!

In Death Valley Rally, most of your opportunities for high scoring lie in secrets that require leaps of faith and finding walls you can jump through...

@ishambard@cupoftea.social I have to try them both, maybe I’ll remember which one it was.

@ishambard@cupoftea.social It was the one where the roadrunner runs on a road while being chased by the coyote, and it sometimes stops to eat seeds. 😂😂

That sounds like Death Valley Rally for the SNES
🤣🤣
