People say stuff like "you don't miss old games you miss being young and having lots of time to spend on relatively few games" a lot and this completely overlooks the difference in friction in game design between say, 1995 and 2025

Sometimes friction is enjoyable. This can be seen in series like Dark Souls. But nowadays unless your studio name is From, your game will not be given the benefit of the doubt on deliberate friction in game design

I find that because I have less time to spend on games, I am more drawn to old games, as I feel I am making meaningful progress in the time I have available.
