Theorycrafting apartment complexes, as one does. The general notion is a standard bedroom containing one hatch (which may instead be in the hallway, for lower floors), a bed, a chest/coffer, and a cabinet; and they are connected to a complex of hallways sandwiched between them, making a three-floor system.
There may be enough room to add in an additional staircase from one gridway to another, but I doubt it.
On the other hand, the next level gridway may simply be connected by the same staircases, but I feel like that defeats the aesthetic purpose of alternating the staircases/rooms.

Having the rooms line up on the X and Y axis does mean that it'd be easier to figure out how to fit a two-level stairway between gridways; the alternating that staggers the room is fun, but complicates such considerations.
