@Doreen32128@universeodon.com Well, it's not one man alone. It's the people who follow him and think his "ideas" are great. Hitler wasn't successful in the first place. He got imprisoned in the mid-1920s, and there, the story could have ended. But he wrote a book in prison, found a publisher, people still had problems with the outcome of WWI, and were open to his rants ... and there you go.

Trump alone isn't the problem. It's all those 🤮🤮🤢🤢😡😡🤬🤬 around him who just put him in the front seat.

@Doreen32128@universeodon.com I'm far beyond sad, I'm horrified... I could never have imagined that the States would witness an authoritarian shift. I'm aware of how polarized society is and that a huge number of people believe in the "good old" supremacy of white men but I believed (hoped) that the rest would be strong enough to resist. My Granddad from Texas fought against the Nazis to free Germany from fascism. And now this development...

@HNumberger@mastodon.social Yes, sad was a poor choice of words! Horrified, angry, shocked, ashamed, stressed…those words describe my feeling better! My grandfather, my Dad and my uncles all fought the Nazis. Actually, my grandfather was stationed in the South Pacific fleet, he was 44 yrs old. The people around trump are all clinging to power. I hope we have Nuremberg type trials.
