I went back and re-listened and they did say 'not dead or alive' so I think that's what I confused. My only previous knowledge of prions comes from the 'mad cow disease'.
So for these prions to reinfect someone, they'd most likely have to consume the brain in question?

@pixelpusher220@dmv.community They would have to consume prions, whether they were in brain or other CNS matter, or perhaps meat that had been contaminated with it, or, ref the research I noted, even in the environment. Which is a little scary to think about.
