@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I inherited grandma's Electrolux, which had a "feature" that caused the hose end to pop open if the bag was full. Age and plastic rot broke the little tube to the apparatus, causing it to randomly pop open. I disabled it, and the vacuum cleaner continues to work. I have to manually check the bag, but, eh.

I really don't want a vacuum cleaner that has an app. A RC roomba might be fun, however.

@c_merriweather@social.linux.pizza @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org Shopvacs last forever, cost less, and have suction that dwarfs any housevac. So far as I know, none have an app.

@jhavok@mstdn.party @c_merriweather@social.linux.pizza They do last forever... I have inherited two (both were free), I only need one.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org @jhavok@mstdn.party I have a large shopvac, but it is too awkward to use in the house. The ancient Electrolux still works; it has had a few replacement parts to keep it running.

@c_merriweather@social.linux.pizza @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org The ancient vacuums last. My Mom bought a Kirby before I was born, and I believe my sister still has it.

Wish I could run a cross an Electrolux for a cosplay jetpack.

@jhavok@mstdn.party @c_merriweather@social.linux.pizza @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org Grandma has a Kirby. Bought it after she bought the house she lived in for 45+ years. As far as I know, it got sold with the house when she lost her independence. It might still be working.
