@YakyuNightOwl@mastodon.world I was actually bussed from the inner city of St. Louis to the county as part of desegregation, despite being white, as they did it based on where you lived rather than the color of your skin. This random thing probably changed my whole life as the county schools had far more resources than my neighborhood, which had been starved of tax revenue due to white flight.
I didn't really grok all of this until I learned how generally fucked Missouri was during Ferguson and why.
