The games I’ve tried run perfectly fine on the same device on Windows.

I have been distro hopping for the last two years, and gaming wise, I can really recommend endeavour OS and cachyOS (which I'm running now). I had to fiddle a little with the latest assassins creed, but otherwise, everything just works (tm). And yeah, I'm running arch, BTW 😉
schrotthaufen@elusiveman@infosec.exchange Debian bookworm. Didn’t upgrade to trixie, yet. I suspect the hardware is the issue. (Thinkpad T440 that gets dusted off when I visit my parents for longer than a weekend.)
Elusive Man@schrotthaufen@mastodon.social OK, Debian is a solid choice, just not for gaming. Consider using something more 'experimental' if you can. Honestly, Cachy is great and I didn't have any issues so far, also for daily use. Heise made a video about it recently.
