Kinda annoyed that none of the games I’ve tried to run via steam on Linux work on this hardware. So far the game either won’t start, or the laptop locks up and has to be power cycled…

The games I’ve tried run perfectly fine on the same device on Windows.

@schrotthaufen@mastodon.social what distribution are you running? I have been distro hopping for the last two years, and gaming wise, I can really recommend endeavour OS and cachyOS (which I'm running now). I had to fiddle a little with the latest assassins creed, but otherwise, everything just works (tm). And yeah, I'm running arch, BTW πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

@elusiveman@infosec.exchange Debian bookworm. Didn’t upgrade to trixie, yet. I suspect the hardware is the issue. (Thinkpad T440 that gets dusted off when I visit my parents for longer than a weekend.)

@schrotthaufen@mastodon.social OK, Debian is a solid choice, just not for gaming. Consider using something more 'experimental' if you can. Honestly, Cachy is great and I didn't have any issues so far, also for daily use. Heise made a video about it recently.
