Irrespective of sometimes laudable goals, mandated age verification systems for Internet sites are not only ineffective at actually protecting children, and may actually cause them harm, but more broadly ultimately serve the furtherance of fascist, authoritarian information control and censorship regimes, irrespective of the political parties endorsing them.
