Climate reporting really fell down on the job, so did I think the IPCC. The framing for climate change was always presented with the idea that the global South would be the one struggling.
Temperature changes are not distributed evenly over the globe. The higher, the latitude, the greater the change.. this means that Europe is experiencing a more dramatic change in air mass temperatures flowing over it.
